EVERY MICKLE MAKES A MUCKLE EP

Hi. As some of you may know, I am in the rap group Plastic Little. And those of you who are familiar with Plastic Little know that PL is known for making pretty raucous party rap, and is a group with a very dubious nature indeed. But, y’know, sometimes you get tired of rapping about your penis or getting drunk and you begin to yearn to make other types of rap songs. Hence, we have Every Mickle Makes a Muckle, a short EP filled with the type of songs an idealistic 15 year-old Jayson would’ve wanted me to make years ago, but I was too busy getting fucked up off of Southern Comfort with my best friend Kurt in Rittenhouse Park. I do some singing on some of the songs and I apologize for that because I’m definitely not the greatest of singers, but I can’t help myself, I just like singing (right Mildred?).

The phrase “Every mickle makes a muckleis an old Jamaican adage which simply means, “Every little bit counts.” My mother would often say this to me during one of my many monologues about the futility of everything. She would say “Jayson, you’re so damn morbid, remember every mickle makes a muckle.”

Just click on the track name to play the song. Feel free to download them and I hope you enjoy them. If not, it’s just another MP3 you won’t listen to anyway.

ACAPPELLA PROJECT

Hi again. Outside of Plastic Little, I used to be involved in a small indie/folk music project called American Sneakers with my friend and composer, Steven Ward James. I wrote lyrics and sung, while Steven composed the instrumentation for the songs. We completed two albums, Darts & Daggers which is available on Itunes, and Nothing But Nothing, which is unreleased, but if you email me, i’d be willing to give you the album. The acappellas below are sketches for songs I came up with for American Sneakers, but never got around to finishing before we dissolved as a group. I’m putting them up here in the hopes that someone, or some music group/band would be interested taking these acappella sketches and making finished songs out of them. I think it’d be very interesting to see where different music artists could take these simple vocal sketches, and I’m hoping that a capable group of musical upstarts would do something lovely with them. So please, download these sketches and do something with them. They’re all mostly about love, or lack of love, or longing for your true love to come back to you, and other assorted mushy type romantically cliché type shit, and most of the sketches were recorded on the crappy internal mic of my MacBook, so the audio quality ain’t too great buster. And also before I go, not damper the hippy vibe of this offer, I’d would like credit for the usage of these songs if they ever made it onto anyone’s album and any corresponding royalties if, let’s say, the songs actually became hits (yeah right), I don’t really want to sue the shit out of someone. Okay, that’s about it folks!

Get the acapella sketches HERE. Please be patient as all the tracks load.
